Traffic regulations motorcycle

Trailer

  • It is allowed to attach a trailer to a motorcycle, provided that they are, at most, half the weight of the motorcycle

Helmet

  • Wearing a helmet is mandatory
  • The helmet must be equipped with reflective stripes, which must be visible from all directions. This requirement also applies to foreigners

Passengers

  • Transporting a passenger is permitted, provided there is a special seat (duo or dual seat) and footrests are present

Lighting

  • Dipped beam or daytime running lights (including LED) during the day is mandatory

Alcohol test

  • Motorcyclists are required to an alcohol test with them

Maximum speed

  • Motorcycles <80 cm="" sup="">3, with / without trailer
    In urban areas; 50 km / h.
    Outside urban areas; 75 km / h.
    Roads with separated lanes and four lanes; 75 km / h.

Traffic regulations moped

In France, there is no separate definition of a light moped; it falls under the mopeds. A moped must not drive faster than 45 km / h.
 

Trailer

  • Mopeds are allowed to attach a trailer where the maximum weight, including cargo, not be more than half the empty weight of the vehicle.

Bicycle path

  • For mopeds it is prohibited to use bicycle lanes and paths, unless signs show otherwise.

Helmet

  • Wearing a helmet is mandatory

Riding side by side

  • It is prohibited for mopeds to drive side by side

Passengers

  • a maximum of one passenger may be transported on a moped on a seat for this purpose (duo or dual seat), provided there are footrests present
  • Children under 5 years old must travel in a child seat.

Lighting

  • Dipped beam during the day is required

Specifics

  • Mopeds allowed outside urban areas to use the footpath, provided they do not obstruct pedestrians.

Microcars in France

  • In France, a microcar officially called 'quadricycle léger à moteur'. More common are the terms "voiture sans permis" (VSP) or "voiturette.
  • According to the law is a microcar similar to a moped. The speed limit is 45 km / h.
  • The minimum age for driving a microcar is 16 years.
  • With a microcar you can ride on the bike path, unless there is a prohibition for mopeds (indicated by a prohibition sign).
  • A microcar should not be on a motorway, autosenlweg and roads that are banned for 'slow traffic'.
  • You need a moped license if you were born after 1987.
  • If necessary, a navigation device with you to find alternatives to roads that are prohibited for microcars.
  • You must have a reflective safety vest in your vehicle and use it when you have a breakdown
  • Your vehicle must have a GB sticker.
