Traffic regulations motorcycle

Trailers

  • Trailers behind a motorcycle may only be one-axis
  • The width of the trailer must not exceed 2 m
  • The distance between the rear axle of the motorcycle, and rear of the trailer may be up to 2 m
  • Behind a motorcycle with sidecar may only be trailer as the wheel of the sidecar is inhibited.

Helmet

  • Wearing a helmet is mandatory for driver and passenger

Passengers

  • A passenger is allowed
  • The Dutch law provides for the transport of children on the motorcycle, no information
  • There are no requirements on age, height or use of child seat

Maximum speed

  • Maximum speed of motor with trailer
    in urban areas; 50 km / h
    outside urban areas; 80 km / h
    expressways; 80 km / h
    motorways; 80 km / h

Traffic rules moped

Trailers

  • Trailers behind a moped may only be one-axis
  • The width of the trailer must not exceed 1 m.
  • The distance between the rear axle of the vehicle and the rear of the trailer must not exceed 2 m

Helmet

  • For drivers and passengers of a moped / scooter is required to wear a helmet
  • For drivers and passengers of a light moped, there is no helmet requirement

Passengers 

  • Children under 8 years of age may not be transported unless they are on an effective and safe seat with enough support to back, hands and feet

Bicycle path

  • Light moped must use the bike path, if present
  • Moped / scooter must not use the bike path, within the urban area, unless otherwise indicated
  • Outside urban areas, the scooter obligated to use a bike path for a moped /

Maximum speed

  • Maximum speed for moped / scooter with trailer;
    within built-up areas 30 km / h on the bike path and 45 km / h on the road
    outside built-up areas 40 km / h on the bike path and 45 km / h on the road
